I hear the familiar chime of my correct passcode sound as my door gives way for me to push my handle and open the door. I saw a dim light come from the living room, confusion settling in me as I close the door behind me, entering my apartment for the first time in two weeks.

I had gone on a business trip and while I was away, I had one of my friends to take care of my dog, not wanting to have to board her away while I was gone that long. My dog loved Seyoon, so it was no issue to have him stay with Thena. She almost loved Seyoon more than she loved me.

However, I was surprised to walk into my living room to see Seyoon still in the house, the lamp on the side table by the couch was on as he read a book, his glasses falling loosely down his nose. I smile softly as I watch him a moment before noticing Thena on his lap, sleeping away as he ran his hand over her repeatedly.

“Hey.” I whisper, not wanting to wake up Thena.

Seyoon looks up with a smile, his nose moving to push his glasses up further on his nose, making s couple butterflies mingle in my stomach. “Hey, I’m sorry to be here when you got home. Thena didn’t want me to go.” He whispers back, an awkward smile overtaking his soft one, though this one was arguably soft also.

“It’s no trouble.” I smile, walking over to where Thena slept. “Thank you for staying with her, I really appreciate it.”

“Of course, we had a great time.” Seyoon smiles back, his eyes locked with mine.

The room is silent as we stare, most likely from the tiredness we both felt from being up late, but it made for a tension that wasn’t uncommon for Seyoon and I. Suddenly, Thena shifts and kicks her back feet against my thigh, making me yelp in pain. Her head shoots up when she hears me, boofing quietly as she leaves Seyoon’s lap to crawl into mine.

“Thena, I missed you baby.” I coo as I scratch her chest and tummy. “Were you good for Seyoon?”

“She was an angel.” He laughs, reaching over to rub her stomach.
